ABOUT ME
Hi! I’m Madi, and I am a Graphic Designer at UPMC Health Plan in Pittsburgh, PA. My experience with design covers brand design, print/digital advertising, layout design, illustrations, animation, and some multimedia. Design is a tool of communication for me, as I don’t identify as much as a designer as I do a communicator through what I create. Whether it be through illustration, design, videography, or any type of work I do, I try not to limit myself to what a “designer” is and treat it as a tool to communicate the way I want. My creative approach —no matter the medium— is to not only take pride in what I do or attention to detail but to develop pieces that visually communicates a conversation. A few of my favorite things outside are of designing is getting a good workout in, learning new recipes, crime junkie podcast, puppy cuddles, and listening to Summer Walker on REPEAT.
EXPERIENCE
UPMC Health Plan
As of June 2020, I am a graphic designer at UPMC Health Plan in Pittsburgh, PA. As a graphic designer at UPMC Health Plan, I am responsible for conceptualizing, design, and to produce print projects and other graphic materials of all levels needed for the marketing communications, provider education and communications, employee communications, and corporate communications efforts. I currently assist in conceiving creative visual ideas and solutions; design graphic materials such as brochures, newsletters, advertisements, and other related documents and collateral, with proper attention to function, concept, visual appearance and corporate identity requirements.
REINGOLD — GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERNSHIP
From December 2019 to February 2020, I worked at Reingold in Alexandria, VA as their graphic design intern. Reingold is a public relations firm that is passionate about effecting social change. I designed print materials, including fact sheets, brochures, reports, I also developed client brand identities, logos and other branding elements. I also retouched, manipulated photos, and as well worked with the video team to create animations and short videos for clients. A few of the clients I worked with at Reingold include The National Football League, Census 2020, and The American Society of Anesthesiologists.
NP STRATEGY GROUP — GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERNSHIP
From September 2019 to December 2019, I was a graphic design fellow at New Paradigm Strategy Group in downtown Washington, DC. New Paradigm Strategy Group is an agency that focuses on helping organizations plan, communicate, and succeed through the use of data, creativity, and experience. At New Paradigm Strategy Group, I assisted in the design and production of projects, including digital advertisements, social media graphics, microsites, presentations, and reports. I worked heavily with the creative team to brainstorm creative ideas to enhance the message and engage the audience for each project I worked on.
Marshall University Recreational Center GRAPIC DESIGN INTERNSHIP
I worked as a graphic design intern for the Marshall University Recreational Center from August 2018 to December 2018. I gained experience in curating an academic university brand identity through working at the Marshall University Recreational Center. Duties for this internship were to create flyers and posters promoting events or classes that would be held at the recreational center. I worked heavily with the design team to share information on the social media platforms associated with the Marshall University Recreational Center.
Peake Media — GRAPIC DESIGN INTERNSHIP
I worked as a graphic design intern for Peake Media, a publishing company focusing on trade publications on fitness professionals. I worked at Peake Media from August 2017 to December 2017 and would create ads, edit ad sizes and proportions, and also work with creating the layout of the four magazines under the Peake Media name. I also created a Team Member Playbook that was given to each member of the Peake Media team.
